Welcome to the world of English by Yandex Practicum. We help students speak natural English through practice. Our platform is getting recognized by more and more students, and that is why we are expanding our team. We are now about to launch a new EdTech product designed to teach English as a second language to Russian speaking software engineers at levels B1-B2 (intermediate — upper-intermediate) in the context of common work situations (e.g., daily standups, communication with a customer, retrospective meetings after sprint completion). Role purpose The successful candidates will help us co-create and test drive a new ELT course for software engineers. Responsibilities Continuously analyse clients’ needs and thoroughly plan your sessions. Select, adapt, or write your own materials to meet your clients’ needs In collaboration with Practicum Instructional Design team, co-construct the syllabus, learning materials and methods. Critically reflect on your experience and share it with your colleagues, shaping the future of the course. Record your sessions to share them with the team (whenever your client gives consent) Lead 6 students. Your students will be software engineers at B1-B2 levels. Your teaching schedule will consist of 45 min contact slots at 8am or 9am and 6-8pm on weekdays. You will work 30 to 40 hours every week (which you can spread over 4 or 5 days). Expect to teach experimental lessons 15-30% of your time, and spend the rest of it reflecting, planning and brainstorming with the team. You fit in if interested in IT, or have experience in working with ESP students one-to-one have strong(good) background knowledge of how to design, select or adapt ESP English materials to meet your students’ needs you’re prepared to deal with the high level of uncertainty eager to invest in material preparation and collaborate closely with various teams you’re highly flexible and adaptable, people-oriented are ready to experiment and discard your materials if necessary have good critical thinking skills, can analyse and reflect on your practice What we offer This role stands between Teaching and Instructional Design (EFL teaching methodology), and you will be heavily involved in the core team. To guarantee your involvement, we will be offering a 30 to 40 hours a week contract that will not depend on the influx of students. You will be compensated as a senior EFL teacher or a mid-level Instructional Designer / EFL methodologist. We are a distributed team based in Russia, UK, France, Italy and other countries.
